Developing updates
A developing update adds newly reported facts to an existing event. The latest meaningful update can return the story to the top of the news flow, while the living timeline shows how the report changed over time.
Corrections
A correction fixes information that was inaccurate, materially incomplete or presented in a misleading way. Editors can amend the article, add an explanatory correction note when warranted and preserve the previous version in the internal audit history.
Rollback and removal
Authorised editors can restore a previous version or hide an article. Hiding may be appropriate when a story cannot be corrected promptly, creates a significant legal or safety risk, or fails the publication’s sourcing standards.
Requesting a review
Readers, sources and people named in coverage can request a factual review through the contact page. Please identify the article, the disputed statement and any supporting evidence. Requests are assessed on their merits and do not guarantee a change.
